A word from the Editor . .. . .

This third issue of Guest House Review continues the important conversation we began last summer with the publication of our “special issue” on Trauma and Addiction (GHR, 2, August 2008). The Editors are grateful to Dr. Patricia O’Gorman, a new Board member of the Guest House Institute, and Dr. Merle Jordan, a friend of Guest House Review, for the thoughtful essays they’ve provided for this issue. Taking their cue from the previous articles on trauma and addiction, they review the main content of the articles and extend them in several important directions.
Fr. William Barry, S.J., Ph.D. has graciously consented for his recent presentation from the Winter Leadership Conference to be published so that it can reach a wider audience. His prayerful reflections on the interactions between God and the soul are powerful reminders about the core of recovery and spiritual transformation. Thank you, Bill.
This is the third issue of Guest House Review. The editors and I hope that those of you who check out GHR online find it helpful to your ongoing recovery. We encourage all who share the desire for recovery to send us your stories, or more extended reflections and articles, as a way to share your “experience, strength, and hope” with others.
Thank you for reading. And, our prayerful best wishes for your own recovery.
